Just a Little While

In just a little while,
and the storm begins to ease,
what once felt like a breaking
softens into breath and peace.

In just a little while the thoughts that flay wildly,
Like leaves in stirring air will fall into peaceful idly.

In just a little in the dark of absent sun,
The night will flee, and I will see that I was not undone.

In just a little while…
and the weight begins to move,
not by strength I carried,
but by mercy I can’t prove.

In just a little while the looking glass will clear,
No longer lies and cruelty will ever reach my ear.

In just a little while the rest I deeply long,
I will be in his house forever—not by my own power, but by the blood of Christ alone.
