A robin perched upon the fence
And chirped with great importance.
He puffed his little feathered chest
As though he ruled the forest.
A squirrel dashed from tree to tree,
His tail held high with flair.
He stopped to scold the morning breeze— Then found an acorn there.
The daisies swayed from side to side,
They never seemed to rush.
They simply wore their sunny smiles
And blushed a little blush.
The clouds went drifting overhead,
No meetings left to keep.
They painted castles in the blue
While children counted sheep.
I watched them all and had to laugh,
Their joy was quite contagious.
Perhaps the world is happier
When hearts are less outrageous.
So if today feels rather gray
And worries start to shout,
Go borrow lessons from the robin—
He got it figured out.
