The tallest trees were once small seeds
That disappeared beneath the sod.
Their hidden days were not defeat,
But sacred work between them and God.
I’ve longed to do some mighty thing,
To leave a mark that all could see.
Yet in the silence, Christ reminds
His greatest work is still in me.
The world pursues the brightest flame,
Yet Heaven sees the smallest spark.
One whispered prayer from weary lips
Can shine across the deepest dark.
This suffering season is not in vain.
Though tomorrow still holds mystery.
The Lord is doing a silent work,
And that is love enough for me.
