The Invisible Thread — Soul Ties
You cannot see me, yet I pull, A silent thread beneath the thought; You feel the tension in your mind, But never see where you are caught.
I stretch through years and closed-up doors, Through distances you thought would mend; You wonder why your mind goes back— You do not see me at the end.
I tremble when a memory moves, I tighten when you speak their name; One thought can tug me from the dark And pull you toward that place again.
You call it longing, call it loss, A battle raging in your head; But underneath what you can feel, I am the unseen, living thread.
I respond to life broken, never knowing I am tethered to an invisible token— a thread I cannot see.
I carry what was spoken, what was touched and what was felt; every place I gave my soul became another place I knelt.
Though the moment may be over, and the hands have long since fled, I still feel the silent pulling of the invisible thread.
It wasn’t tied in just one moment, nor knotted all at once; each secret shared became a strand, each touch another bond.
Imagination spun the fibers, occasion opened up the door; what I entertained in secret left me tethered wanting more.
And every time I crossed the threshold, another strand was quietly fed; until what started as a whisper became the inevitable invisible thread.
